How far in advance should I order? Typically at least 2 weeks notice is needed for a custom cake. It is recommended to place a deposit as soon as possible to hold your date. If no deposit is made the date may get booked up. Verbally accepting a quote will not hold your space, a 50% non-refundable deposit is required for cakes $300 or more. The remaining 50% will be due 1 week prior to the event. For orders under $300, we do require payment in full at the time of booking. If something does come up, The Happy Caker will happily work with you to reschedule your cake as long as reasonable time is given.

How are cakes priced? Prices are quoted according to the time it will take to bake, stack, ice and decorate as well as the cost of the ingredients. Our cakes are baked fresh to order using quality products. You will not find a bit of Crisco anywhere in our buttercream! A custom cake takes many hours to complete. Some taking as little as 3-4 and others 80+!

Do you offer tastings? We do not offer tastings at this time.

How do payments work? Once you have decided to place an order you will need to either pay in full or pay a 50% non-refundable deposit. We are unable to refund deposits due to the loss of other potential cakes for that date as well as supplies that are purchased. Orders that are less than 2 weeks away will be due in full. If there is more than 2 weeks until the date of your event a 50% non-refundable deposit will be required to hold your date. The remainder will be due the week prior to delivery/pickup.

Do you offer sheet cakes? Sheet cakes are not an item that we offer. The Happy Caker makes specialty cakes, cupcakes, cake pops and cookies.
